Eisyu Temple
Eisyu Temple
Eisyu Temple was built in Keicho 16 (1611) and was opened by Ryogen.
Ryogen’s secular name was Eisyu Matabei Goto. It has been said that he became a priest in Kyoto.
The temple was placed in Tuboi under the Kumamoto Castle until the second chief priest, Ryokei, left since the start of this temple; however, the temple was washed away by a flood in Manji 1 (1658).
After 6 years of Kanbun 4 (1664), the third chief priest, Rinsetsu, it was relocated and reconstructed to the current location in response to the request of Motofusa Uemon Goto in Babamura.
